Immanuel Prayer Transforms Character
Wondering About the Immanuel Process?
There are four basic steps:
1. Quieting the body
2. Connecting with Joy
3. Looking for Jesus
4. Sharing Your story
Immanuel Prayer is a simple prayer exercise practiced with two or three people. Beginning with slow, relaxed breathing, tension is released from the body. Wth Holy Spirit's help and the facilitator's coaching, the Immanuel prayer participant takes a few minutes to reflect on a joyful memory. Savoring that moment, we reconnect to it emotionally and visually in the mind. After thanking God, we invite Jesus to reveal Himself in that memory. Jesus, God & Holy Spirit are always with us according to Hebrews 13:5, John 14:17 and many other Scriptures. Using our God-given imaginations, we look for Jesus. Then we ask Jesus a question. The question can be, “What do you want to show me?" or "What do you want to say to me?” or “Where were you in this?” The questions depend on what the prayer participant is perceiving and Holy Spirit's leading.
The process acknowledges Jesus and remains aware of His presence and voice through the recipient's impressions. After the prayer time it is critical to share the experience and expanding revelation aloud with two other people. Sharing an encounter with Jesus is the brain's technology to return to the loving and compassionate presence of Jesus. Connection with Him transforms the soul. While the intellectual comprehends the words of Scripture that God is with us, Immanuel prayer visualizations capture the heart. The heart leads the whole being into a tangible connection with our loving God.
The goal of this prayer exercise is to activate the brain's relational circuits to receive Jesus's comforting truths. This gentle process is perfect for addressing emotional pain or grievous circumstances. The prayer facilitator lends capacity and attunes to the recipient. Jesus directs the session. The facilitator coaches. This is holy space. Everything is an invitation. The experience is dependent on what the recipient shares. The goal is to connect with Immanuel, God with us, Matthew 1:23
